On the three term recurrence relation and BDF methods

In this paper, we propose to investigate important properties of the characteris- tic polynomials related to the backward differential formulas (BDF). We show that the BDF characteristic polynomials satisfy a three term recurrence relation that allows us to provide the location of their zeros.
